How the CySA+ exam voucher works

A CySA+ exam voucher is the prepaid code you redeem with Pearson VUE when you book the exam. CompTIA gives $425 as the US retail price of the CS0-004 voucher (June 12, 2026), and one voucher pays for one attempt.

Voucher terms in plain words

Voucher
A code that pays for one exam attempt. You enter it while booking with Pearson VUE; buying it does not book a seat.
Expiration
Valid for the period printed on the voucher, and that date cannot be extended (CompTIA voucher terms, checked October 2026). Check the date on your voucher when you buy it.
Exam retirement
If the exam retires before the voucher expires, retirement wins and the voucher no longer works for that exam.
Country and currency
Vouchers are country and currency specific; each regional store sets its own price.
Refunds
Voucher purchases cannot be returned, refunded or exchanged.
Retake option
Some CompTIA bundles are sold “with Retake”. The retake activates only after you take the exam and do not pass; if you never sit the first attempt, the voucher and its retake are void.

From voucher to booked seat

  1. Buy the voucher

From the CompTIA store for your country, alone or inside a CompTIA bundle. Note the expiry date that comes with the code. No prerequisite stands between you and the purchase; the CySA+ requirements covers what CompTIA recommends instead.

  2. Start from your CompTIA account

Scheduling begins in CompTIA Central, which hands you over to Pearson VUE to pick a date.

  3. Choose where you sit

A Pearson VUE test center, or OnVUE online proctoring from home or an office. OnVUE needs a webcam, microphone, speaker, a single display and a clear room, and you run its system check before booking.

  4. Redeem the code

Enter the voucher at checkout and pick a date that falls before both the voucher's expiry and the exam version's retirement.

A CS0-003 voucher has a hard stopTrap

If you plan to sit CS0-003 in English, your deadline is December 22, 2026, whatever the voucher's own expiry says, because the voucher terms let exam retirement override it (checked October 2026). CS0-004 vs CS0-003 explains which version to book.

Discounts, and what the voucher leaves out

CompTIA's retake policy rules out free retests and retake discounts: you pay the exam price for each attempt (checked October 2026). The ways to pay less that CompTIA itself names are its bundles and an academic store for students. For current bundle and student prices, see the CompTIA store for your country.

The voucher pays for the exam and nothing else. Training, practice material and the $150 continuing education fee due when you renew by CEUs three years later (CompTIA CE fees, checked October 2026) are separate costs; the full CySA+ exam cost adds them up. If the first attempt falls short, the CySA+ retake rules set out the waits between attempts.

Voucher fine print, asked plainly

Is $425 the CySA+ voucher price in my country too?

No. $425 is the US retail price CompTIA gave for the CS0-004 voucher on June 12, 2026 (CompTIA V4 FAQ). Vouchers are country and currency specific, and other regions have their own store prices.

How long do I have to use my voucher?

Until the date printed on it, and that date cannot be extended (CompTIA voucher terms, checked October 2026). The expiry date comes with the voucher, so check it before you pick an exam date.

Can I use the voucher for an online exam as well as a test center?

It pays for the exam; the delivery is a choice you make when booking with Pearson VUE, either a test center or OnVUE online proctoring (Pearson VUE CompTIA page, checked October 2026).
